Day 17
Savannah, GA to Albany, GA
approx. 252 miles
Route: From Savannah, I-95 to I-16 to Macon. Then I-75 to Highway 300 to Albany
I dropped my wife off at the airport in Savannah for the flight home. That morning, we could smell the smoke from the massive fires they were having in southern Georgia. I had originally planned to drive a southernly route that would have taken me through the city of Waycross. On the TV news, the reports on the fire were being shot there. It didn't look very good down there, so I changed my route to travel to the northwest of the fire zone.

Albany is the county seat, so it has a fairly large downtown area with lots of government buildings, old houses, and such.

I stayed at the Motel 6 that night. Luckily, there weren't any "incidents" this time.
