| Day 15 |
| Second sightseeing day at Savannah, GA |
|
On our second day, we stopped at some places that we had planned to see. The first
stop was the Mercer Williams House.
It is the main location in the famous book,
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which
I read before the trip. It was kind of neat to see some of the places that are talked about
in the book.
The main character in the book is Jim Williams, who was an antiques dealer and important figure in the restoration movement in Savannah. Many of the pieces of furniture he owned, along with valuable paintings and art objects are on display in the house. It is a magnificient collection that is a must-see if you visit Savannah. Again, as I stated before, none of the house museums in either Charleston or Savannah allow photography inside. So, all I have is some exterior shots. |

| Colonial Park Cemetery was the second cemetery in Savannah. It opened in 1750 and the last burial took place in 1853. Yes, Helen, people actually go on tours of cemeteries! See the tour group below, right? |

We didn't go on this tour, but we saw several of these vehicles during our stay. |
|
Andrew Low House
The Andrew Low House is where Juliette Gordon Low lived. She founded the Girl Scouts in 1912. |

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
When we were touring the Andrew Low house, the tour guide told us that we should not miss the cathedral located across the square. The interior is magnificent. We were glad we stopped to see it. |
