I took a slight detour north of I-40 along Kelbaker road to the Kelso Depot. It was built in 1924 for the workers on the Union Pacific railroad. It was closed for many years and has just been reopened as a museum and the headquarters for the Mojave National Preserve of the National Park Service.

Coyote Yes, Leo. I have seen a coyote before.

Needles I arrived in Needles. The first stop of the trip. I stayed at the beautiful Motel 6.

One at a time One at a time. An underpass in Needles where only one car at a time can pass through. You have to take turns with the cars coming from the other side. I wonder how many accidents they have here.
